How to Cut Rutabaga

Cutting vegetables can be the most time consuming part of healthy eating. This is a quick way to cut a rutabaga in less than 5 minutes, even with a thick wax coating.

STEP 1

If you grow your own rutabaga, get it from a farmers market, or get it from an organic grocery store, rutabagas are relatively easy to cut. However, if you get rutabagas from a larger store, they often have a wax coating, which means that you’ll need a very sharp, very large butcher knife.

STEP 2

Cut the rutabaga in half, then halve each half. Cut each quarter into halves again.

STEP 3

Remove the peel of each bit (1/8th of a rutabaga) and cut into slices. Cut the slices into cubes of the desired thickness.

BENEFITS OF RUTABAGA: Rutabaga is an excellent substitute for white potatoes, which are a big no-no for people with autoimmune disorders.
