How to Cut Cauliflower

Cutting vegetables can be the most time consuming part of healthy eating. This is a quick way to cut a head of cauliflower in less than 5 minutes.

How to Cut Cauliflower

STEP 1

Quarter the cauliflower, greens and all.

STEP 2

Cut the greens off each quarter. If there are any black spots on the cauliflower, slice those off at this time.

STEP 3

Break off the cauliflower florets. If you prefer smaller pieces, cut them down as needed.

HINT: Try to use the whole head of cauliflower when preparing a recipe. This limits the chance that it’ll get pressed into the back of the fridge and forgotten for months. Most extra meals can be frozen and stored for up to six months. Those meals are great for when life gets hectic.

BENEFITS OF CAULIFLOWER

Cauliflower is a decent source of Vitamin C, a key vitamin to keeping our immune systems strong. Oftentimes, getting sick is the result of poor diet and/or stress. Eating cauliflower a few times a week can help give your immune system a boost. However, if you’re feeling a little under the weather, one of those freezer meals might come in handy.

Cauliflower is also high in folate (Vitamin B9) which is necessary for red blood cell formation (which is why it is crucial for pregnant women). Since our red blood cells only last about 4 months it would make sense that the general population, not just pregnant women, needs to incorporate regular amounts of cauliflower into their diets. When people aren’t getting enough folate in their diets they might feel a little more tired than usual.
